about

This is a sort of philosophical question: If there were more minutes per hour, would the hours be longer or the minutes be shorter? We dug both directions! Thus you find the stretched and comprised versions here.

Well, seriously now: The title of this podcast and the first two tracks refers to "More Miles per Hour", an album by fellow group The Absurd which features Martin on electric piano and myself as cover designer. It contains one piece in seven variations. (You guessed it: the title of the piece equals the title of the album.) After the recording-session, we found out that we did something in the same vein as the basic version of "More Miles". So that's where the title comes from.

Track one is a collage, using the first chord from Michael's guitar in various speeds, smoothened by various reverbs and delays. The rest is the sparsely edited session in original sequence. (We were in pretty good condition back then.)

To me "More Hertz" always seemed like a single with a looooong b-side, a pretty good one though. Martin and I agree that the last 24 minutes (lacking an exhausted drummer) belong to the best we did experimental-/free-jazz-wise. The secret is: we simply forgot about making music while performing! No stress and ambition, but still concentration and dedication. That's what it is!

Enjoy
Guido
